Tired of wearing eyeglasses and thinking about getting contact lens? Here at MPO we offer extensive contact lens exams to find the perfect contacts that are customized for your eyes. To begin, we start with determining the proper curve and size for your contact lenses with an instrument called a keratometer. The keratometer measures a small area of your eye at the apex of the cornea and your eye’s curvature. You do not want contacts that are too flat or too steep compared to the shape of your eyes, otherwise they can be very uncomfortable or may cause damage to your cornea.
No one wants a pair of contacts that are uncomfortable or irritating! Therefore, a pair of trial lenses will be applied to your eyes and evaluated with the biomicroscope to judge the fit of the lenses and how much they move with each blink. Sometimes lenses appear to fit well when first applied, but tighten up after several hours of wear. Thus, MPO does follow-up visits during the contact lens fitting process. We examine the fit of your lenses several times to ensure that they fit properly and cause no adverse effects to your cornea.
